This mansion dates back to the 1700s and now operates as a museum. Rumors say there are a number of ghosts haunting the place, including that of Priscilla Ridgely of the original owners' family. Her apparition has been spotted throughout the house, along with the ghost of Cygnet Swann, a resident from the 1800s who was the daughter of Governor Swann and died under mysterious circumstances. Her apparition has also been seen, and heard playing the harpsichord in her room. Tom is a third ghost who resides here, and is said to be the former butler. Two other ghosts linger here, but their identities are unknown. One likes to unlocked and unlatch the locked doors, and the others makes noise in the tack room.

Just like the movies

I was on an afternoon walk along the estate grounds. When we had crossed the street to the farm portion of the park everything was normal. Going towards the old farmhouse it felt like we were being watched. One of the doors to the slave quarters creaked open and we had walked in to hear footsteps slowly creaking above us in the section of the building that was locked. From seeing so many scary movies, i got my ass right out and left.

Faces in my pictures

I stumbled across this beautiful home a few years ago. I walked the grounds and took a tour. I was the only one on the tour and I remember my tour guides name was Travis. I am interested in old houses with a history and took a ton of pictures. Two of them had something odd. Now, I'm not new to this kind of stuff and I knew exactly what I was looking at as soon as I reviewed the photos. One had pracillas face in the top window. The other was an odd smoke like figure I captured next to me in a mirror. Something else that happened is from room to room you could see movement and hear voices. At one point Travis had to make sure no one just walked in the house. Warning though. Upstairs is something dark and the employees here will swear it is not haunted. Don't even ask. It's worth the trip.

Ringing bells

My daughter’s and I were on a tour at the Hampton Mansion. The tour guide was explaining how each bell leading to the butler’s kitchen was once used to call for thier individual servant. (Each had their own bell) Well, juat as she said how they are now disconnected, all of them rang simultaneously. Everyone looked up and at each other as if saying, “What’s with that?” I think we were all too shocked and too scares to speak on it.
