This location now operates as a museum but dates back to the 18th Century and was once an inn and tavern that was owned by Mary Surratt. Her son John sometimes met with friends there, one of whom was John Wilkes Booth. These meetings were said to be when the plot for the assassination of President Lincoln evolved. The guns used were hidden under the floorboards and Mary was accused of being involved and was executed. Her apparition has been spotted floating around the staircase or on the porch and men's apparitions have been seen on the back stairs. The sounds of muffled men's voices have also been reported here.
